Piano Lessons and Tutoring

Piano Lessons are back!

In School or Home Tutoring, Adult Education, Revision Classes. Curriculum: Reception to GCSE/A Level Music

Our piano lessons are back and in full…socially distanced swing. We’re following all government guidelines and are taking every precaution to keep our students safe.

It has been a very long break away, and we appreciate that your young ones may not have kept up their practice, that’s fine, no stress. Everyone has done what they need to do to get through this lock-down and pandemic.

If you have a musician who is nervous to go back to music class, feeling they have fallen behind, let us support them in their studies.

MusicSmart offers individual lessons in all areas of Music Education.
Specializing in GCSE and “A” level tuition, we can offer revision sessions catering for individual student´s needs.

If you need help with Composing, Performance skills, including how to choose the performance pieces to maximise potential, or revision for the Listening papers, our teachers at MusicSmart can help put together a bespoke individual education plan.

All exam boards are covered.

We can also offer tailored Music Tutoring to fit with your Home Education Programme of Study from Reception to KS3. Our teachers will teach in your home and prepare a Scheme of work to fit each individual student´s needs.

20 minute Taster sessions can be booked by emailing us at info@musicsmart.org.uk

We are so happy to be able to start welcoming you back!

Regarding Coronavirus

Public Health England with regard to the Coronavirus

Dear MusicSmart Singers,

We have taken the decision to cancel all choir rehearsals, from this week, Monday 16th March, due to the advice from Public Health England with regard to the Coronavirus.

The health and well-being of our MusicSmart Community is of the utmost importance to us. Singing in a choir is an activity where we are all breathing deeply in close proximity to each other and we are aware that many of our singers have underlying health issues and/or are older. We are sorry to have come to this decision but we want to protect everybody.

• The Singing Saturday ‘Spring Celebration’ March 21st is postponed and a future date will be announced. We would like to hope that the Singing Saturday on May 16th will go ahead as planned.

• Concerts that have been scheduled for FCS, Just Sing Bognor and SingSing choirs are postponed and will be rescheduled in due course.

• The performance of SingSing Ladies Choir at the Tyler’s Trust Charity Dinner, has been postponed by Tyler’s Trust and will also be rescheduled.

• Anyone who has bought tickets can get a refund on production of the tickets when we resume our rehearsals.

• Anyone who has donated raffle prizes, if you would like them returned, please do just ask. If not, they will be safely saved until the future concert.

At present, we would like to hope that we can resume our rehearsals after the usual Easter Break, which is week beginning Monday 20th April, but we will of course follow the guidelines of PHE.

We will keep in touch and do take care everyone!
Best wishes

November’s “Songs from Films” workshop

November singing workshop MAGIC!

The wonderful world of film music came alive for us in November, at MusicSmart’s “Songs from Films” workshop.

Featured in our day’s lineup of songs were great hits such as Get Happy,  The Windmills of your Mind, From Russia with Love, Blue Suede Shoes, Somewhere My Love, Money, Double Trouble, I Will Wait for You and For Once in My Life.

Well, we certainly did “Get Happy” with all of the action, joy and romance you all brought to our final workshop of 2019. We loved the great sound of everyone singing so well and with such energy – thank you all for a brilliant day!

Enjoy the pictures!

MusicSmart Singing Workshops

MusicSmart has grown, thanks to our lovely supporters. As such, we have decided to make a small change to the name one of our popular, regular events.

Our Singing Saturdays are well-loved, but we understand that not everyone who would like to attend, can make a Saturday, or even get to the event.

Going forward, these events will be known simply as “Singing Workshops” and will sometimes take place on a Saturday, sometimes a Sunday…other groups can book us to come to them…ladies groups, mens groups, carers groups, WI groups…anyone who has people who want to sing!

So, we hope you’ll find your way to the page (http://musicsmart.org.uk/singing-workshops) and if you’re willing, will share it to others who may also want to sing but are not in a position to travel.

Macmillan Coffee “Mornings”

MusicSmart will be hosting coffee “mornings” in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support

It is the ‘Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning event for Macmillan Cancer Charity, just like we did last year, and boy did we do it well!

Get ready to bake cakes to sell, make a donation for a piece of homemade cake with your cuppa and our favourite…a “Guess how many berries in the pie” competition.

Each of our choirs will be taking part in the week beginning 23rd September.

We really look forward to seeing how you all take action to make these events spectacular!

Singing Sunday and holidays!

A huge thank you to everyone for such a successful Singing Sunday!

We enjoyed all of your excellent singing, your wonderful sound and your creative “uhs”  – what an achievement!
Thanks so much to Betty and Mick for organising the drinks and delicious cake.

Thanks also to Rich, Mick and Graham for adding their great expertise to the band.

Attached are a few photos taken whilst we were relaxing during the breaks.

Thank you also to each and every one of you in our MusicSmart choirs for a fantastic year of singing and fun. We’ll see you back at the start of term 🙂

We wish you a lovely holiday time, plenty of lazy, crazy days and picnics with beers and weenies!!!!

All the best,

Hilary and Paula x

Shore Sounds perform for the first time at new venue

Shore Sounds’ FIRST Performance at their new venue a success…

Sunday 7th July saw Shore Sounds entertain us with their first performance at West Wittering Memorial Hall at 4.30pm.

They performed a mixture of songs past and present, with a fantastic performance of ‘Born Free’ opening the show, plus a moving rendition of ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’ (this song being 80 years old this year!!), ‘Everywhere’ by Fleetwood Mac and ‘Proud Mary’ to name but a few.

Following the performance; a delicious Strawberry Cream Tea…what better way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

Shore Sounds raised £132.00 for their chosen charity, the local ‘First Responders’

Thank you to all singers for a wonderful first performance and to friends and family for your support

Felpham Community Singers Summer concert

Halcyon days of summer singing…

Friday 12th July at 7.30 saw FCS entertain us with their performance programme which featured Songs from around the world.

We were treated to ‘Do You Know The Way To San Jose’, ‘Spanish Harlem’, Hari Coo Coo ( a folk song from India which was beautifully sung unaccompanied!) to name but a few, also finding ourselves at times ‘Way Over Yonder in a Minor Key’ and ‘In The Middle of Nowhere’.

For this concert Felpham Community Singers were joined by our Guitarist Richard Rahaman and for our show stopping Finale, Graham Paul with his Trumpet voluntaries on ‘Sussex By The Sea’

FCS also managed to raise a whopping £552.65 for the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund, their chosen charity for the proceeds of the raffle. Amazing effort!!!

Thank you to all singers, accompanists and friends and family for making the concert and our fundraising a huge success!

Here’s a “behind the scenes” look at FCS’s pre-performance warm up.
